You bought a used hatchback from a dealer in August for £9,450, paying by debit card. Ten weeks later the engine lost power, and a garage found a failed turbo.

Good to know
- In the UK, the right to reject a faulty car for a full refund lasts 30 days. Do not lose it waiting for a repair.
- If you bought on finance through the dealer, the finance company may be the one to claim from.
